cold brew beauty tea

With the heat, chlorine, salt water and seltzers, your skin is way more likely to be a little dehydrated during the summer months. What does that mean for you?⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Well...dehydrated skin can be itchy, flakey, dull, uneven, lead to more breakouts and make fine lines / wrinkles more noticeable. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

One way we LOVE to stay hydrated is with our herbal gotu kola | moringa beauty tea! Beauty teas are a great way to take care of your skin from the inside out. They are usually packed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties which are great for your body and skin. Serena Poon, a nutritionist and celeb chef, was quoted on The Zoe Report saying, "the best part about these (beauty) teas is that they're almost like a three-part self-care checklist. You're hydrating yourself, you're soothing, detoxing or protecting your skin; you're creating a positive habit that becomes a ritual"

sounds perf right?! But here's the big secret...cold brewing tea is the BEST way to make a batch of iced beauty tea to sip on this summer. It's a slow process but totally worth the wait.

When you brew your tea in cold water instead of hot water you will get an end product that is smooth and sweet (as opposed to some teas which can get bitter when brewed with hot water).

Here's what you do:

1) take 1-2 tsp of the gotu kola | moringa tea and place into a glass tea infuser

2) place infuser into jar and top with 8oz of water + cover

3) place jar in your fridge for 8-12 hours (we like to do this at night so the tea is ready to go by morning!)

4) once time is up, take out infuser, add ice + enjoy

PRO TIP: don't forget tea leaves are totally compostable! Don't have a compost bin? In San Luis Obispo County you can put food scraps into your green bin!

Want to make a larger batch of cold brew beauty tea? Try using a French press or simply put loose leaf tea into a mason jar, top with water + filter out tea after brewing!
